Wedding Dress Made into Two Quilts for April

April sent me a beautiful satin wedding dress with a full skirt and train and beautiful lace bodice and sleeves.  She asked me to make two wedding dress quilts for her son and daughter.  Each quilt was to be different, and she wanted me to incorporate Celtic designs and silver and gold thread.

Her daughter's quilt had a lace heart made from the sleeves in the center.  The lace on the bottom edge of the dress was used in the diamond shape in the center.  A Celtic design was quilted in silver thread in the inner border, accented with lace.  The outer border was quilted in a feather design, and a bow from her dress was added at the bottom.

The quilt for April's son was machine embroidered in gold in a Celtic cross in the center, with Celtic knots in the corners.  Lace from the bottom edge of the dress was put into the inner border, and the outer border was quilted in a feather design with the bow on the bottom.

She and I were both very happy with the results!
